About
Vivienne Varay is a contemporary art jeweler and interdisciplinary visual artist whose work examines the emotional lives of materials and the role of adornment in shaping identity, intimacy, and power. Through one-of-a-kind objects and sculptural forms, she explores adornment as a site of memory, transformation, and personal mythology.
Rooted in the tactile traditions of craft, her practice balances material precision with experimental process. Her current work integrates digital fabrication and conceptual research, expanding the language of adornment into new modes of storytelling and cultural critique.
Based in Pullman, Washington, she serves as an Assistant Professor in Digital Technology and Culture at Washington State University. She holds an MFA from the University of Georgia and a BFA from Arizona State University. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, including at Hectare Galerie (Belgium), Armory Art Center (West Palm Beach), Hera Gallery (Rhode Island), TAG Gallery (Los Angeles), Tincal Lab (Portugal), and Gallery2052 (Chicago).
